If you are looking for a way to keep the kids entertained during the BIG Game then you will love this idea!! Watching the Biggest Game of the year is something that we like to do as a family. Our game day parties always include the kids. However, despite their love for the game, my boys NEVER sit still when we are watching football. Since I created an interactive Goldfish® cracker snack game the kids are quiet, happily entertained and attentive! The kid-friendly snack bar allows us to watch football in peace and the boys are thrilled to have their favorite snack crackers; it’s a total win-win.
Making a kid-friendly Goldfish cracker Snack Bar is sure to be a big hit. It’s delightfully youthful which makes my boys eager to play! I don’t know if they are more excited to watch football or to play their own game while munching on Xtra Cheddar Flavor Blasted Goldfish crackers. I usually grab a bulk size from Target because the crackers don’t last long in our home. My boys enjoy snacking on the crackers after school so I always utilize Target’s cartwheel savings. Thankfully I was able to SAVE 10% on my last bulk sized purchase; be sure to grab your coupon and save money for your game day party.
Let me explain to you how the game works. Take a few snack containers of your choice and fill them with savory Goldfish crackers. The bulk sized crackers have an easy to pour opening that is perfect for filling up the containers. Label each container with a football related term i.e. “Touch Down” “Holding” “1st Down” or “Flag.” Every time that the kids hear one of these terms on the TV, they get to hop up and race over to the snack table and grab a few Goldfish> crackers from the properly labeled container.
The Big Game is usually on in the evening so I prefer to place a “water break” station on the table; it pairs well with the snack crackers. Listening for key words gets the kids up and moving while also paying close attention to the football game. Playing this game is fun and easy, both of my boys can get in on the action. Now, my kids are competitive but the best part is that there is no “winner” which makes for one happy mama and even happier boys. Just look at that face; Goldfish crackers really are “The Snack That Smiles Back®.”
In order to create the snack bar I ran to Target to grab bulk sized Xtra Cheddar Flavor Blasted Goldfish 30 oz. Carton of crackers along with other Goldfish cracker flavors. It is going to take a lot of crackers to fill up the containers. Shopping there is peaceful and it makes me happy. It is so easy to find the items that I need.
I’m sure that you are dying to make this interactive snack bar for your family so here are the directions.
Gather Your Materials
- 3-4 Snack Containers
- Xtra Cheddar Flavor Blasted Goldfish 30 oz Carton and other variety of Goldfish crackers
- Chalkboard Label Stickers
- Writing Chalk for Labels
- 4-6 Shareable Sized Snack Bags
- Football Stickers (optional)
- Green Construction Paper
- Kabob Sticks
- Writing Chalk for Labels>
Step 2: Place the chalkboard sticker label in the middle of the container. I used a small measuring tape to ensure that my labels were straight. I’m not good at eyeballing it haha!
Step 3: Fill the container with Xtra Cheddar Flavor Blasted Goldfish crackers. You will want to use the bulk sized cracker box because the wide pouring mouth makes it really easy to fill the container. It also closes up very well and makes storing the leftover crackers a breeze.
Step 4: (optional) Add a football sticker to the small shareable snack bags.
You will need to repeat these steps for the remainder of the containers. I chose to fill four cylinders with Goldfish cracker flavors. Label each container with a football term i.e. “Touch Down” “Holding” “1st Down” or “Flag.” The following steps are optional if you want to make the snack bar game more festive but they are not required to play.
(Optional) How to make a festive football flag.
Cut four 2 x 2.5 inch triangles out of green construction paper and tape it on the back of a kabob stick. Label it with a fun football related term and place it inside of the snack container.
I hope that this fun interactive snack game will be loved by your family. We enjoy spending the evening together while cheering on our favorite team.
